Investigation of the different sizes of caissons on the stability of vertical breakwaters abstract
Breakwaters are used to protect against storms and sea waves and contain the pieces of different sizes which are randomly placed on top of each other where there is almost no adherence between members. The material used in piers must be stable against the impacts of waves. Caisson breakwaters are made of lighter and more accessible components compared to other breakwaters and because of this they are more applicable. Caisson breakwaters made of massive rock and concrete blocks are one of the most common. The resistance of caisson to the attack of waves depends on the weight of the block. Breakwaters are divided into different categories according to the materials used, locations and geometry. By building deeper breakwaters, engineers came to the conclusion that in order to achieve greater resistance. they should increase the volume of materials. In this research, the effect of different sizes of caissons on the stability of vertical breakwaters are performed.
