Optimal Mixture Design of Bio-Concrete Containing Bacillus Subtilis for Compressive Strength Enhancement: A Review abstract

Concrete materials containing microorganisms offer new characteristics, such as self-healing ability. This type of concrete, known as bio-concrete, presents mechanical and durability properties that surpass conventional structural concrete. The presented research, which is novel in its focus on bio-concrete containing Bacillus subtilis, aims to provide the optimal mixture design. This unique methodology draws from existing literature and incorporates new investigations on compressive strength enhancements. The results underscore the impact of the number of bacteria used in concrete, the water-to-cementitious materials ratio, the cement-to-sand ratio, and the ratio of fine-to-coarse aggregate on changes in compressive strength. This innovative study offers a fresh perspective on the properties of bio-concrete
