Abstract:

The primary objective of this paper is to present a novel beam damage detection method and show the efficiency of this method using Equilibrium Optimizer. In this research, first, the finite element model of a two-dimensional beam is done in MATLAB software. Finite element modeling including matrix formation. The mass and stiffness of the structure are considered based on the degrees of freedom. In the next step, the damage is modeled in the form of reducing the local stiffness in the finite element model. In the next step, an objective function is formulated based on the modal characteristics of the beam. The issue of damage detection is solving an inverse problem, and in the final stage, the objective will be addressed by employing a novel optimization algorithm known as the equilibrium optimizer to solve the problem. The present study outlines the development and implementation of an optimization methodology to conduct damage identification on beam structures. The primary objective of this approach is to identify and pinpoint multiple damages through the utilization of an equilibrium optimization algorithm. It was showed that the proposed approach is effective in determining the damage and quantifying it. In this research, a new objective function is formulated based on the modal characteristics of the structure and minimized by using the newly optimization algorithm namely equilibrium optimizer. The innovation of the present research is to present a new damage diagnosis method using equilibrium optimization algorithm.
