Modelling Alzheimer’s disease deficits in place field representation abstract
In this work we propose a model to investigate impacts of the Alzheimer’s disease (AD) on place field representation. The proposed model is developed based on biological evidences, including recurrent structure of CA2 , neuron-glia interactions and spike timing–dependent plasticity (STDP) in synapses. The proposed model is used to investigate deficits in place field representation during AD. To validate the model its behaviour (simulation results about representation of place cells) under AD condition was compared with the literature. Our results indicate that the model is able to predict observations recorded in the literature for representation of CA2 place cells in AD very well
