Comparing Effects of Series and Parallel FACTS/BESS Devices on Voltage Stability of a Grid-Connected Wind Farm During Fault abstract

Global concerns regarding climate change and sustainability have led to a recent worldwide push towards electricity derived from renewable and sustainable resources.Among the vast range of renewable resources, wind energy is growing faster than any others, covering power systems withnew obstacles such as voltage instability in wind farmsequipped with doubly fed induction generators (DFIGs) during grid faults. Flexible AC Transmission System (FACTS) devices can be used for solving this problem. Compensators are usually used to compensate active and reactive power and keep the stability of system on desired level. In this paper, we study theimpact of different FACTS devices like STATCOM and SSSC onvoltage stability during fault of a network integrated with wind resources. The simulation has been done in MATLAB/SIMULATION framework
