The Role of In-Service Training of Municipal Employees in Their Work Performance abstract

This study examines the role of in-service training in improving the performance of municipal employees and analyzes its importance and effects on the efficiency and quality of municipal services. In the context of the modern world where municipalities are facing complex challenges such as increasing urban density, environmental changes, and increasing expectations of citizens, improving the skills and knowledge of employees through continuous training seems essential. This study, by comprehensively reviewing the existing literature and analyzing successful cases in international municipalities, shows that in-service training can have widespread effects on reducing work errors, increasing employee motivation and job satisfaction, and improving interpersonal interactions in the organization. Also, empowering employees through specialized training programs, such as urban project management and new technologies, leads to increased productivity and improved responsiveness to the needs of society. Our findings suggest that the design and implementation of training programs should be done according to the real job needs and strategic goals of municipalities, and continuous evaluation and flexibility in updating these programs are essential. Also, creating a supportive culture and encouraging learning and innovation play a central role in the success of this approach. Consequently, by emphasizing the need to invest in in-service training, municipalities can not only increase their productivity but also move closer to achieving the goals of sustainable urban development. This research suggests that organizational leaders can achieve greater growth and dynamism in the provision of urban services by adopting comprehensive training strategies and focusing on the real needs of the organization.
