Abstract:

Gastric ulcers are a common disease that affects millions of people around the world. Given the global prevalence of this disease, a new approach to its treatment is important. Several products are used to treat gastric ulcers, including H۲ blockers, M۱ blockers, proton pump inhibitors that reduce acid secretion, as well as sucralfate and enoxolone carbohydrates that help strengthen mucosal defenses. Clinical evaluation reports of these drugs indicate that side effects and drug interactions may occur during ulcer treatment. Therefore, there is a need for antiulcer agents with higher efficacy and lower toxicity. Using medicinal plants is an alternative method to reduce the side effects of chemical drugs. Falcaria vulgaris (FV) is a plant with various uses, including treating stomach ulcers and digestive problems. Carvacrol and limonene in the Falcaria vulgaris plant have strong anti-inflammatory properties and effectively treat stomach ulcers. Considering the increasing value and special position of medicinal plants in the pharmaceutical industry and the approach of societies' approach to the use of plants and their derivatives, in this study we investigated the plant Falcaria vulgaris and its effects on gastric ulcers.
