Three Dimensional Incompressiible Free Surface Flows with Volume-ofFluid Interface Tracking abstract
One of the powerful methods that implement the free surface is the volume of fluid (VOF). In this study, a new algorithm based on curvilinear coordinate system is developed which implements implicit pressure based method (SIMPLE) in a staggered grid. VOF method along Lagrangian propagation of the interface in the computational domain resolves the interface details. Based on this algorithm, a 3-D computer code is
generated and verified using two free surface flow examples. Firstly the algorithm of interface tracking is checked via simple translation of a cube and then the gravity fill test in both Cartesian and random curvilinear grid systems is solved. The results show good agreement with other numerical and experimental solutions.
