Abstract:

Urban Heat Island (UHI) is a phenomenon that has been an important case in urban climatology major of study. This is the effect of human built urban sites that lead to higher temperature compared with their surrounding suburban areas. Diverse mitigation strategies have been proposed for this phenomenon. In this research, it has been tried to have an investigation on four major of these strategies; albedo, green spaces and surfaces, water resources, and Sky View Factor (SVF). After this survey, it has been tried to have a closer look at the implementation of these strategies in a case study. Tehran has been selected as the case study of this research. Then it has been tried to propose practical solutions for enhancing UHI mitigation with aforementioned strategies. Improvements were proposed in a comprehensive point of view on sustainable factors. Propounding some sorts of funds for constructors and buildings with higher grades based on their sustainable performance, and also careful urban and regional planning in developing marginal parts of the city are considered as efficient strategies to mitigate the UHI factor in Tehran at this time.
