Abstract:

Combined Photo-Fenton–biological method has gained growing interest for treatment of low or non-biodegradable wastewaters. Photo-Fenton is used to enhance biodegradability of recalcitrant compounds to more biodegradable intermediates. Subsequently, these biodegradable intermediates can be treated by conventional biological methods. Therefore, measuring biodegradability efficiency at various stages is essential. This review gives an account of different biodegradability tests that are applied for photo-treated effluents to find their potential bio-compatibility for optimization of the cost and reaction duration in combined systems
