Abstract:
Introduction: this research is conducted with a goal of investigating the relation between thinking styles and the research priorities and leanings.Method: in this descriptive correlation research, a sample consisting of 148 faculty members of Payam-e-Nour and Azad universities of Ahvaz was selected using quota sampling method. In order to collect data, thinking style and researcher questionnaires made by research leanings were used. Validity and stability of the questionnaires were confirmed and the data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics, variance multi-variation analysis (MANOVA), Chi Chi square (X2) and SPSS software. Results: the results from Chi square test showed that there is a significant difference between the initial priority scheduling of the total sample (X2 (0.001, 2)= 13.39, p= 0.001). The achieved results from MANOVA test showed that there is a significant difference between legal and judicial thinking style variables of the two universities (p< 0.001); but there isn’t a significant difference in executive thinking style variable (p> 0.05). Also, there is a significant difference between the research leaning variables in two Pyam-e-Nour and Azad universities (p<0.01) but there is no significant difference in fundamental research leaning variable between those universities (p>0.05). Conclusion: Overall, this research showed that in Payam-e-Nour and Azad universities of Ahvaz the background and conditions are more provided for an applied research leaning rather than fundamental research leaning.
