Abstract:

The dynamic reservoir environment of today’s wells challenges the traditional methods of well diagnosis and monitoring. The new production log string offers higher efficiency, greater reliability and better accuracy in production logging to increase your confidence in determining your downhole flow regime. This innovative platform enhances the traditional measurements by integrating new technology sensors and combining other essential tools. To reduce overall operation logistics, the new production log string acquires the same measurements in either memory or real-time mode. The main measurement objectives in production logging are to diagnose well production problems such as the inflow rates and entries of unwanted fluids, supply information for reservoir modeling and provide data to optimize the productivity of future and existing wells. Another important objective is to perform the measurements cost effectively. Production Logs are run in cased or open hole completed production/injection wells to obtain information concerning the behavior of well fluids, formation characteristics and extent of mechanical problems. By diagnosing problem and quantifying multi phase production the client can make a commercial decision of what to do next. Industry is driven by economics, Production Logging info can make the different between going ahead with remedial work or even the development of an entire field. In this article at first we talk about production logging, its applications and new production sensors for solving problems that we encounter in deviated and horizontal wells and other corrections, then we investigate one of gas wells of Iranian reservoirs as a case study and talk about type of fluids in this well, water production and cross flows as a problem and main gas producing intervals, also from log data we calculate velocities, flow rates and productivity index of this well.
