Abstract:

Introduction: In recent years there has been an increasing interest in urban quality as the challenge to manage the connection between built environment, nature and people in appearance and function of cities and towns and prepare the condition for people to live and work. However, a major problem often has been followed in quantities of life in urban areas specially by citizen, but it can be surly important to study the role of quantity of urban design indicators on quality of space, quality of life and quality of behavior.MATERIALS AND METHODS: This paper will focus on the relationship between space qualities caused from planning, designing and behavior of people in their environment. It is well known that natural or manmade environment affect behavioral responses both physical and mental stimuli that affect behavioral responses.Responses to the environment are complex and best understood in terms of three psychological stages of human behavior: perception, cognition, and spatial behavior. Many factors, including personal and social characteristics intervene between the objective world and an individual’s evaluation of it, and these may act as filters to distort objective conditions. Thus, individual perceptions transform what was initially seen as a universal objective situation into a highly individualistic interpretation of that condition (Pacione, 2003, p. 22).RESULTS AND DISCUSSION: This cross-sectional study was planned at behavior problems found in literature and society related to urban qualities of space. Perception of the environment, in its most strict sense, refers to the process of becoming aware of a space by the acquisition of information through the sensations. Cognition is the mental processing of this sensory information. Spatial behavior refers to responses and reactions to the environmental information acquired through perception and cognition. This may involve the activities of thinking about, remembering, or evaluating the information. The designer creates environmental stimuli to direct these psychological stages as well as the secondary processes of motivation, effect and development.
