Abstract:
In this paper, poly(vinyl alcohol)/silica composite membrane modified with mercapto groups and its application for adsorption of Pb(II) from aqueous solution in a batch system is investigated. The effect of pH, contact time and initial concentration on adsorption of Pb(II) ions were examined. The kineticdata were analyzed by pseudo-first-order, pseudo-second-order and double- exponential kinetic models. From result obtained; the pseudo-second-order kinetic model best described the adsorption of lead ions. Three two-parameter isotherm models namely Freundlich, Langmuir and Dubinin –Radushkevich were applied to describe the equilibrium data. Based on results, the experimental data followed well Freundlich model.
