Assessment of Plasma-pulse Technology Application in Enhanced Oil Recovery

Plasma-Pulse Technology (PPT) is the newest technique used for oil recovery and was originated in the Russian Federation at the St. Petersburg State Mining University with funding and assistance from the Skolkovo Innovation Center in order to present an economic and environmentally friendly technique opposite to the existing processes. In this paper, the method is assessed and its advantages are compared to the other Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) methods and its application in upstream phase of petroleum industry is also discussed. Furthermore, application of the technology in some real projects and their outcome are presented. The method is economical and time-saving with no adverse environmental consequence that persuades companies worldwide to use this method intensively. Available results show flying color future for PPT in petroleum and EOR industry.
