Abstract:
Following the recent devastating tsunamis such as Sumatra Tsunami in December 2004 whichcaused more than 250000 fatalities, the importance of accurate modeling of tsunami for regionswith potential danger has been highlighted. Makran Subduction Zone in Gulf of Oman is one oftwo sources of tsunami in Indian Ocean and it has the potential of generating large tsunamis withthe danger of direct attacks on the neighboring countries of Iran, Oman and Pakistan. In thisstudy, the height of tsunami waves and their propagation towards the coastal regions are modeledand the inundation of tsunami on Chabahar and Gwadar Bays are accurately simulated.
