ENERGY CONSERVATION IN DISTILLATION PROCESS abstract
During the transformation of energy in the industrial chemical and refining processes such as distillation process, thermal effluents are generated in the form of flue gas, condensate, boiler blowdown, hot water, etc. They cause thermal pollution and depletion of fossil fuel at a rapid rate. Thus, the importance of process integration in plant design has long been recognized: the significant energy requirement of the process plants should be reduced by energy saving techniques, especially byheat integration and heat pumping. Furthermore, in order to minimize the negative impact on the environment which originates from energy consuming processes, improvement of energy conversion systems is also mandatory. Thus, this paper described the conventional heat pump at first and incontinues, a novel heat integration system based on an extensive literature survey, taking into accountthe most promising energy efficient distillation technologies that presently feature shorter implementation times was presented
