Abstract:
In some cases, the waste industries have a series of volatile organic compounds, which to prevent contamination of the environment and human health , these compounds must be removed from the wastewater. In the ethyl acetate plants, the wastewater of process has a small amount of ethyl acetate. In the this study, in order to remove the ethyl acetate from dilute aqueous solution, the air gap membrane distillation (MD) process is used. The effect of process parameters, such as feed temperature and feed concentration on flux and selectivity of ethyl acetate was examined. The hydrophobic membrane employed in MD is synthesized by phase inversion method by using supercritical fluid as a non-solvent. The morphology and hydrophobicity of microporous membranes were investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and contact angle (CA) measurement. The hydrophobicity and porosity of the prepared PVDF membrane is large. These factors increases the flux of mass transfer and separation percent.
