Abstract:
Laminar flow around two inline cubes placed inside achannel has been studied numerically in the presentarticle. A CFD code is developed to calculate threedimensional steady state laminar fluid flow around twocuboids of arbitrary size and configuration mounted inside a channel. The employed numerical scheme isfinite volume and SIMPLE algorithm is used to treatpressure and velocity coupling. Results of the presentsolution are presented for two cubes of the same sizemounted in inline arrangement. Streamlines at differentplanes are plotted for various combinations of the spacing between the two cubes and Reynolds number.Velocity and pressure distributions are also plotted inthe wake region behind the cubes. It is shown thatpresence of the second cube completely changes theflow field and vortical structures in comparison with thecase of a single cube. Effectsof the distance between the two cubes and Reynolds number are also discussed.
