Abstract:
In this article, different models for the simulation of thermally driven flows using lattice Boltzmann models have been investigated. A double-density distribution function thermal lattice Boltzmann (DDDFLB) method and a hybrid thermal lattice Boltzmann (HTLB) scheme are used to simulate flows in a heated two-dimensional square cavity at different Rayleigh numbers in the range
from 103 to 106 with a Prandtl number of 0.71. The numerical results obtained by HTLB method are in a slightly better agreement with those of previous studies in comparison with the DDDFLB results.
