Physique anxiety social, self-esteem, and Internet addiction among students of Al-Zahra University

Objectives: Increasing demand for technology for many of people accompanied with major mental health and unhealthy social communicable problems. Based on students accustomed with update technology and computer science at first of entry to university and enhanced the achievement levels to internet, so if they used it excess, the internet addiction among them probably increased. The purpose of the present study was to investigate Physique anxiety social, self-esteem, and Internet addiction among university students. Methods: In this descriptive research, the statistical sample consisted of 101 female students residing at AL-Zahra University dormitory. Participants were chosen randomly and their identities were classified. Then, they completed the Multidimensional Scale of Physique anxiety social, Rosenberg's Self-esteem Scale, and Yang's Internet Addiction Test. After the questionnaires were completed, the data was analyzed using the Pearson correlation coefficients and regression models. Results: The Pearson correlation coefficient demonstrated that there was significant relationships between self-esteem and Internet addiction (P < 0.05), self-esteem and Physique anxiety social (P < 0.01). The findings also demonstrated there isn't significant relationship between Internet addiction and Physique anxiety social (P >0.05). Results of the regression showed that the scale of self-esteem is predicative variables for Internet addiction (p>0.05).Conclusions: Findings of the current study showed that persons who have low self-steem were more vulnerable to Internet addiction.
