Power Loss Management of Distribution Networks in presence of Self-Supporting Cables abstract

Neighboring of distribution network to the consumers has made it a necessity to study practical planning of distribution system in order to manage the whole power losses and improve voltage profile. In this paper the practical planning of distribution system includes the selection of optimal conductor size and capacitor placement in radial distribution network considering increasing rate of loads. Technical operational constraints are available conductors and capacitors, voltage limit, maximum permissiblecarrying current of conductors and maximum reactive power could be injected. The power loss minimization problem is solved using a combination of GA and PSO, which is called HGAPSO technique. By applying the proposed method, final cost of network planning, losses and their cost are considerably reduced and voltage profile of thenetwork has improved to a semi flat shape. Simulation results are investigated on a 28 busradial distribution network. As self supporting cables as a new generation of conductorshas proved effect on power losses, thus once it is aimed to solve the optimization problem in presence of these conductors and show the benefits of employing them in management of power losses and making the voltage profile more flat. At last the effectiveness of the hybrid optimization method and also replacing self-supporting cables is shown the simulation results in Matlab.
