Automatic gamma correction based on average ofbrightness

Preprocessing is essential stage in image processingbecause of limitation of imaging device or inappropriateenvironmental light. This paper presents a preprocessingtechnique for estimating the amount of gamma correctionin the absence of any information or knowledge aboutenvironmental light and imaging device. The basicapproach exploits the amount of gamma correction basedon average brightness. The amount of gamma correction isthen estimated by a power which transports average ofbrightness to center of histogram .
