Abstract:
This study aims to separate, identify and compare compounds produced from pyrolysis of sound wood, and decayed wood of beech (Fagus orientalis L.). Study has been carried out at fixed bed reactor under vacuum conditions at 873K. The separation and identification of resulted bio-oil were successfully performed by gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS) technique. Considering the compounds identified for the sound and decayed wood of beech, 2-Methyl Cyclohexane carboxaldehyde and 3,4-Dimethoxybenzylidene have been achieved, respectively. Results show that decayed wood of the forests which are cumbering in various industries might be an excellent choice as start materials to industrially produce important products as phenol derivatives through pyrolysis techniques.
