Comparison of Genetic Multiobjective Designs of 3D-Wound Core vs Core Type Transformers abstract

In this paper different analytical methods for shortcircuit force calculation in transformers are presented.Multiobjective design of 3D-wound core and core typetransformers using genetic algorithm carried out to reducetransformer mechanical failure rate and transformer totalowning cost simultaneously. Resulted pareto-fronts ofmultiobjective design reveal that with equal total owning cost,3D-wound cores have significantly lower short circuit forces andstresses. On the other hand, under equal short circuit forces andstresses, a 3D-wound core transformer of the same ratingpreserves a lower total owning cost.
