Abstract:

There are two significant aspects to panels and prefabricated structures in the construction industry. They can become important elements for retrofitting the structures, in addition to their application in the construction sector. These are earthquake resistant systems, and the speed of their implementation is very fast. Therefore, many efforts have been carried out for better understanding this structural system. In this regard, current research has been conducted with purpose of analytical investigation of improving load bearing capacity of sandwich paneled walls under cyclic loads and controlling the analytical results. Therefore, six samples of 120 × 120 cm paneled wall with reinforcement bar (ϕ10) in horizontal-orthogonal (PR09), horizontal (PR00), orthogonal (PR90) and reinforcement bars (ϕ10) with angles of 30 (PR30), 45 (PR45), and 60 (PR60) degrees from horizon have been analyzed using ABAQUS finite element software package under static reciprocating loads and same loads were applied under laboratory (experimental) condition. We tried to perform software model as consistent as possible with reality. Finally, their hysteresis curves were extracted, and concluded that wall panel with reinforcement bar at 45 degree of placement angle have the best possible performance than other two condition. In this mode of arrangement, reinforcement bar with 45 degree angle (PR09) led to 348% improvement in energy absorption and 226% increase in load bearing of the panel. We can conclude from these results that arranging materials with angle bear a better performance that horizontal and orthogonal placement.
