Abstract:
Five sediment cores (20 samples) were collected in Mighan Lake, Arak city in Markazi province and have been analyzed for geochemistry to reveal geochemical source and to assess pollution of metals in the sediments. Two main geochemical sources were identified as anthropogenic and natural origin by the factor analysis and cluster analysis. Ba, Co, Cr, Ni, Rb, V, Zn, and Cu mostly of anthropogenic origin, mainly derived from sources of contamination located in the proximities of the Arak city by industrial, agricultural wastewater, untreated urban sewage, factory and heavy traffic effects: Ca, Sr, Zn, Fe, Na, Mn,Ti, S and Clare associated with probably of natural origin.
