Geopolitical-Based Foreign Policy of Iran and Gaining Hegemony in the Transcaucasia Region abstract
The aim of this paper is to enhance the understanding of Iran‘s future foreign policy and how Iran‘s foreign relations can be influenced by its geopolitical positions in Transcaucasia. The Caucasus region is the place of living of over 50 ethnic and linguistic groups which contain followers of the three great religions of Judaism, Islam and Christianity. The Transcaucasia or South Caucasus, situated at the crossroads of Eurasia‘s major energy and transport corridors, continues to play a vital role in the world‘s security affairs. After the end of the cold war, the Transcaucasia emerged as a key region in the geopolitical contest among regional and global powers. The methodology of this research is descriptive-analytical and it attempts to give a geopolitical answer to this question that how Iran can gain hegemony in the Transcaucasia region According to the results of this paper, it seems that geopolitical-based foreign policy is the.optimum way for Iran to gain hegemony in this region
