Three-Dimensional Simulation of the Influence of Radius and Density of Oil Droplets in a Two-Phase Flow Separation Using Voraxial

Two-phase flows, are widely used in petroleum industry. Separation of phases such as water from petroleum or viceversa, is typically done using rotational flow and vortices; one method of separation requires the flow to enter a longtube in a free vortex. The present study studied the Voraxial technology (axial free vortex system of separation) andinvestigated the influence of two functional parameters (oil droplets density and radius) on the separation performanceof the system using computational fluid dynamics. The discretized equations were solved using the SIMPLE method. Itwas determined that as the droplets density increases, the separation performance decreases linearly. Besides, it wasshown that by increasing the droplets radius, the separation performance increases linearly
