HTPC Fuel Cells Based on BZY-Zn Spin Coated Membrane abstract
BaZr0.80Y0.16 Zn0.04O3-δ perovskites (BZYZn) membranes were synthesized and anode supported cell fabricated by using spin coating technique. BZYZn powders were prepared by a citric acid-nitrate auto-combustion methodafter calcination at 1100º C. BZY-Zn powders were prepared by using the same synthetic method for BZY andthen ZnO were added by mechanical mixture. Crystalline phase and microstructure of both materials were characterized by using X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM), respectively. To achieve dense electrolyte onto porous supporting anodes, some variables like: zinc content, sinteringtemperature, amount and type of porogen in the anode substrate, slurry milling time and thermal treatment have been optimized. The SEM micrographs reveal that the morphology of BZY doped Zn is strongly affected by someparameters like sintering temperature and method of zinc doping into BZY structure. Adding super P as porogen in the anode and increasing the milling time of the slurry reduced the grain size and increased density of the deposited membrane, respectively
