Abstract:
Impinging jet stream on a TiO2 coating disc is applied as a new photocatalytic reactor concept for waste water treatment. Modified sol-gel method and Spin coating technique are used for the catalyst synthesis and coating process, respectively. The characterizations of the TiO2 film were carried out byscanning electron microscope (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The Box-Behnken design as a subset of response surface methodology (RSM) is applied to model and optimize the effects of three key operationalparameters: flow rate (2000-4000 mL/min), coating disc diameter (18-22cm) and nozzle-to-disc distance (5-25 cm). The maximum predicted photocatalytic removal percent of phenol was 99.2 % at the optimum processing condition after 180 min (nozzle-to-disc distance of 16 cm, flow rate of 4000 mL/min and disc diameter of 22cm).
