Role of Reliability analysis to indicate the time of Preventive Maintenance: A case study in RAJA Passenger Train Co.

Nowadays, several studies have been carried out addressing transport network reliability acknowledging it as a priority for future research. This research concentrates the role of reliability on railway as a type of transportation system. And also describes the impact of reliability to preventive maintenance plans and schedules. So the present paper at first introduces the rolling stock maintenance strategies and the concept of reliability, subsequently it demonstrates the reliability usage in a case study in Raja passenger corporation in Iran concerning the wheelset of coaches. The paper elaborates that wheelsets are the bottleneck of Raja Corporation in service, then it utilizes the historical data of various types of wheelsets and analysis them to acquire the reliability function via STATISTICA 6.0 Software. Therefore, the reliability of each type of whhelsets will be identified in different time intervals and it can be used to determine the appropriate time of preventive maintenance tasks.
