Abstract:

Today, information technology has significantly increased business effectiveness and efficiency, enhanced workforce productivity, created new competitive advantages, and paved the way for creation of agile organizations. However, this effectiveness would not achieve its actual position unless IT is widely known, accepted and utilized in organizations. Therefore, understanding the factors affecting the adoption and use of technology is very important in this regard. By reviewing the literature on technology and innovation adoption, this study aimed at investigating the IT adoption inhibitor and encouraging factors in organization and offering a framework to help decision makers on IT adoption in organization. This paper identified eight dimensions of organizational readiness through focusing on the nature of preparedness and benchmarking the adoption models. Experts’ opinions were collected, and a model was developed and validated. The relative importance of each component was determined, and finally, a framework was presented for assessing organizational readiness for IT adoption. Also, the readiness level of Kish Free Zone Organization in the field of IT adoption was evaluated based on the model.
