Abstract:

MatSim is a Matpower and Simulink based tool for simulating the power system dynamics including time domain simulation and small signal analysis. MatSim sought to be a useful tool for Power System Dynamics Course (PSDC) education. Due to simplicities considered in the first version of MatSim, some major properties of the power systems were neglected. The aim of this paper is to use constant power load in MatSim toolbox. As the modelling of the component in the MatSim is straightforward so the constant power load also can be included, simply. To demonstratethe correctness of the proposed modelling, power system stabilizers (PSSs) are designing using General Relativity Search Algorithm (GRSA) for two-area ten-machine system of 39-bus New England test system. Then the obtained results were compared versus PSAT wich is a well-known toolbox in the literature. The result show the precise performance of MatSim.
