Stability analysis of reinforced and unreinforced slopes subjected to seismic loads abstract
Safety evaluation of natural as well man-made slope under earthquake forces are very important. Different methodshave been developed like limit equilibrium method, finite element method, stress deformation analysis, etc. to analysestability of slopes under seismic conditions. The present work pertains to the pseudo – dynamic safety analysis anddetermination of sliding displacement of slope under earthquake loading using limit equilibrium method. Requiredreinforcement to prevent instability of slopes also computed for a wide range of parameters like soil cohesion, frictionangle, and horizontal and vertical seismic acceleration coefficients. Magnitude of requires reinforcement strengthincreases with increase in each parameter which threatens the stability of the slope.
