Surface Ground Settlement Affected by Tunneling Under Batter Pile Foundation abstract
One of the challenging issues around geotechnical problems in cities is the development of rail transport system by using tunneling in order to subway crossing. So, existence of pile foundations in the course of tunnel construction or above it are expected. This paper tries to investigate the maximum displacement of batter piles due to tunneling near or under it, using three dimensional finite element code. The main parameter is the degree of inclination of pile than the vertical axis. This endeavor carried out for three different pile lengths (15 m, 21 m and 27 m) and four different inclination degrees (0°, 10°, 20° and 30°). The results showed that by increasing the pile length, the maximum vertical displacement of surface ground above the tunnel and the maximum vertical displacement of the pile head increase. When the inclination increased, the maximum vertical pile movement increased up to the depth of the center of tunnel cross section. After that, for farther depths it showed a lower response at every angle.
