Economic and Social Impacts of Drought (Income, Immigration, Nutrition and Health) abstract

Drought is a reptile phenomenon, which is one of the main consequences of rainfall shortages and has caused a lot of damage to agriculture and water resources. Iran is located in the desert belt of the planet. Therefore, the scientific study of this phenomenon requires a new set of information in order to reduce the effects of this phenomenon. Thus, in order to deal with this phenomenon and to mitigate its adverse effects, it should have a thorough understanding of the drought and its effects on rural areas, so that appropriate solutions can be made to deal with its harmful effects. This study investigates the effects of drought on the economic status of rural farmers in Zahak city and aims to quantitatively assess the damage caused by drought to changes in per capita income of farmers, changes in farmers agricultural patterns, migration and health and nutrition of farmers. The research method is a descriptive-analytical type and is an applied research. Data and documents are collected using documentary and paperwork as well as field studies, interviews and distribution of questionnaires among residents of the villages of the region. The statistical population of the study consists of the population of rural farmers in the city of Zahak, the number of sample villages based on the Sharp formula is determined and the villages are selected randomly. To determine the number of questionnaires, the Cochran formula and the reliability of the questionnaires will be used by Cronbach s test. Descriptive statistics by SPSS and Excel software are used to analyze the data.
