COMPARATIVE STUDY OF HYDROGEN RICH GAS PRODUCTION FROM AN AQUATIC FERN NAMED AZOLIA FILICULOIDES WITH TWRRESTRIAL ALMOND SHELL abstract

Biomass gasification in supercritical water media is a promising rout for the production of hydrogen rich gas. In this research, a batch micro-reactor system was used to study the noncalytic supercitical water gasification of a kind of aquatic biomass named Azolla filiculoides. Within the tested operation conditions, the reactor temperature of 440 °C, residence time of 15 min and Azolla content of 0.05 gr and water loading of 5 gr were considered as base case conditions for gasification expreiment. 3.86 mmol of H2/g of Azolla were obtained. The results Was compared with the almond shell s data as a agricultural waste with the same conditions. This specific interest in azolla filiculoides is justified by unwanted global socio environmental problems associated with high and Out of Control growth by the azolla filiculoides.
