Abstract:

Evaluation of the performance of employees is common in many public and private organizations and it is done under various names such as the system of promotions, competence determination and so on. Evaluation is an effective tool in human resource management. If it is done accurately and logically, the interests of both organizations and employees will be provided. During a performance evaluation, director evaluates and measures employees’ behavior and compares them with pre-set criteria. Then, the results are recorded and sent to the staff. Conducting evaluation process accurately is fairly challenging because it involves some sort of judgments about the behavior of individuals. Therefore, assessment should be done with the least adverse effects. If employees conclude that granting of promotions, merits, and bonuses is not based on performance measures and actual assessment, it will have harmful and damaging effects on their performance. By using correct system of performance evaluation these problems can partly be overcome, organization is helped in achieving its goals, and staff are further motivated to make efforts. The aim of this article is to encourage organizations to improve the evaluation of their employees.
