Abstract:
Medical applications of rapid prototyping (RP) have an increasing trend , making the future of RP more and more promising. These applications may include design . Development , and manufacture of medical devices and instrumentaion , as well as prosthesis design , anstomical models, surgical planning and prosthesis fobrication. This paper will provide a new methodology in disign of custom - made hip prostheses that could provide high accuracy of feoral canal reconstruction via 3D modelling of prosthesis stem , 3D modelling of prosthesis neck , and facilitating the communication between the designer and surgeon . Combining RP technologies and rapid tooling with this novel custom - made hip prosthesis , will enables the above benefits and fabrication of complex 3D hip prosthesis.
