Abstract:

Residential consumers, as one of the important components of the smart grid, have a significant role on the success of demand side management (DSM) programs. With developing of smart appliances and communication equipment, residents can participate more actively on DSM programs. They have opportunity to manage their demand in the home by themselves in order to reduce their bill cost. Additionally, deployment of energy renewable resources in home, energy management system of home should be considered both energy production and consumption. In this paper, an optimal scheduling of electrical demand in a smart home has been considered. The scheduling method is implemented on a home including diversity of home appliances, an energy storage system (ESS), a small photovoltaic (PV) panel and an electrical vehicle (EV) over a 24-h interval. To show the impacts of different equipment, two case studies have been investigated. Numerical results of each case has been presented and discussed
