Abstract:

Recent droughts and the lack of proper management of water resources in the country have resulted in the drying of most lakes and lagoons and seasonal rivers. Due to the drying of Jazmurian lagoon and recommendations offered for Inter-basin water transport of Oman seawater to Jazmurian lagoon, this study investigates the environmental hazards caused by the effects of faulting and seismicity on the water transport routes. By processing the ETM LANSAT 7 Satellite Images, Aerial photos, Seismic data of the Southeastern of Iran, geological maps and piezometer data of the area by ARC GIS.10, ENVI5.1 Software, the fault maps, seismicity maps, joints and fractures densities map, sediments map, groundwater level map and geological map of the area were prepared. Finally, DEM elevation map, geological map and faults map were evaluated and were prepared to a radius of 5 km. The evaluation of analytical data along with seismicity and faulting hazards, shows that the study route is located within the Makran area and is intersecting Sanandaj-Sirjan Zone and Zendan-Minab Fault. It was shown that the area is tectonically active and the probability of seismicity effects on the hypothetical route of water transfer structure is high, and the acceleration of earthquakes related to 5 faults can be more than 0.2 g the Minab area. It was also found that most of the sediments in the study area are from current and quaternary periods and are in the form of unconsolidated deposits, which should be considered in the design of the water transfer structure and necessary actions must be performed. Based on the information obtained, the Southeastern part of the water transport route has high seismic hazard compared to South and Southwestern part, while the probability of earthquake occurrence with magnitude of. greater than 6 (M> 6) in South and Southwestern area is higher.
