WATER EXTRACTION FROM AIR CONDITIONING DEVICES IN HUMID AIR NEAR SHORE AREA abstract

World population growth and conventional water resource limitation implies seeking new sources of fresh water. Air moisture content is one of these new resources. Air conditioning devices working in humid area condensing some of these moisture content which could be considered as a secondary product in humid near shore areas. This phenomenon has rarely been considered or investigated as fresh water resources. In this study water collection from gas air cooler installed in Bandar Abbas (located in south of Iran) is reported. Parameters involving in daily water collection in various times of the day (working days or weekends) are presented in three months of summer. Our data collections and analysis show that considerable amount of water could be extracted from each air conditioning unit. The volume of the space to be air conditioned, outside air leakage and filtration as well as the number of people living or working in the area are the most important factors influencing amounts of water collected with each unit of air conditioning.
