Abstract:
In this study, the hyperthermia process optimization is performed for cancer therapy in a tumor with spherical geometry. Temperature profile resulted from the heat generated by magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) exposed to an external alternating magnetic field in a tumor is mathematically determined and the resulted cells death rate is calculated using equations correlating the death to the temperature profile. The optimum values of required process time duration and the MNPs volume distribution are obtained such that maximum cancer death cells with minimal healthy cells death are resulted. As the results indicate, the optimum value for the MNPs volume distribution occurs at the radius of 0.6 cm and the 560 min of the hyperthermia process time duration.
