Abstract:

Background and Aim: To determine the anthropometric status and its relationship with the socioeconomic status of pre-school children under the shokufa support center of Tehran in 2017. Materials and Methods: This descriptive cross-sectional study was performed on 71 pre-school children (3-5 years old) under the sponsorship of Shokufa Center, which were selected by available sampling. Method: weight and height of children was measured and z- scores were calculated based on gender and age. Food literacy and nutrition were evaluated by a pre-validated questionnaire. Results: The socioeconomic status of the parent has a significant relationship with the weight of the children (p <0.000). The number of overweight girls is higher than that of boys, resent that girls overweight is more related to parenting, and many of children, Second or younger girls have better weights. The more educated the parents who, the mother and father is worker, the weight of the children is more natural. Frequency of anthropometric indices (mean and standard deviation), weight status based on score z body mass index by socioeconomic status in children aged 3-6 years of the supportive care Shokufa in 1396 (number = 71) indicates that the mean of height, weight, body mass index was significantly different with regard to the socioeconomic status of the boys and girls (p <0.000). The status of weight, height and body mass index in second children or younger child, children of four-person families with mothers and fathers of 51 to 41 years of age who have completed a diploma and a cycle, which is the father of working and family responsibilities, and the tenant or mortgagor They are native, it s better. Discussion and Conclusion: there is relationship between anthropometric status and socioeconomic status of the children who were under the shokufa support center. socioeconomic status of the parent shows significant difference of an low parents (light and weigh) between girls and boys. Therefore anthropometric evaluating of an low parents is one of necessary of society.
