Abstract:
In this article a technique based on Spiral computed tomography (CT) scan is proposed for 3D modeling of the femoral diaphyseal cortical bones in computer aided design(CAD) software. This technique is applicable to 3D Inodelling of the intemal regions of the bone. Then. the bone is subjected to 3D digitization to Inodel the external surface of the bone using CMM optical technology and 3D point cloud processing. Combination of the CT scan data and 3D digitization, results to 3D modelling of internal region as well as external regions in CAD software. On the other hand the body mass density may be defined through the absorptiometry and bone mineral densitometry (BMD). Using the 3D model obtained in CAD software and the body mass density data obtained through the absorptiometry, the relationship between the cross sectional area, moment of inertial and body Inass density of the human femoral diaphyseal cortical bone is studied experimentally.
