SAR- GMTI processing methods abstract

Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) is a coherent side-looking imaging radar technology capable of producing nearphotographic quality images of a ground scene in any weather or lighting conditions. The radar antenna is typically carried on an airplane or a satellite, scans the ground ,and produces an image with resolution much finer than what areal-aperture radar can achieve. Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) for ground moving target indication (GMTI) and imaging (GMTIm) have been gaining increasing interests for both civilian and military applications. Standard SARprocessing methods are based upon the assumption of a static scene. If targets are moving , their positions in the SARimage are translated in azimuth and defocusing may occur.
