Abstract:

This paper has tried to define the concept of Mobile Learning. It then was determined as a subject matter of media education and media didactic. Based on the different approaches and definitions, this paper attempted in a first step to identify the specific elements of Mobile Learning. In the second step, models of Mobile Learning were presented and discussed in order to identify further significant characteristics. From this, a working definition of Mobile Learning could finally be given: Mobile Learning is understood as a pedagogically motivated process that is partially shaped and personalized by teachers, in which learners, mediated through their own mobile devices, enter into interactions with people, technologies and contexts and continuously generate knowledge for themselves. This refers to Mobile Learning in the narrower sense. In a broader sense, it is understood as learning with mobile devices.
