Abstract:
Introduction & Aim: There are various factors that influence on the recurrence. The aim of this study is assess the recurrence rate of the breast cancer patients with relapse and determine the related risk factors. Methods: A total of 270 breast cancer patients with relapse who entered from 1997 to 2006 to the Motamed Cancer Institute were surveyed in this study. The survival time was considered monthly from the time of cancer diagnosis up to recurrence or end of study. Demographic and clinical factors associated with recurrence were analyzed using Weibull cure model. Data analysis was performed using the STATA version 12 software. Results: 17(6.3%) patients with relapse, recurring within 5 years. One, three and five year Cure without recurrence of the patients was 0.97, 0.97 and 0.93 respectively. Among the factors affecting the recurrence of estrogen receptor negative, there were significantly with increasing relapse rate (p=0.021). Conclusion: The results of this study regarding the probability increase of recurrence in people who have negative estrogen receptors, it is necessary to consider specialist consideration of the treatment protocol of these individuals.
