Abstract:
Stability analysis of slopes is an important topic of research in geotechnical engineering. In this way, using a proper constitutive model can lead to more accurate results. On the other hand, determination of soil parameters always includes some portion of uncertainty. This article attempts to compare the results of stochastic stability analysis of fine grained soil slope by Modified Cam-Clay (MCC) and Mohr-Coulomb (MC) constitutive models. For this purpose, the uncertainty influence of related parameters of the models are assessed through Monte Carlo Simulations (MCS) based stochastic finite element method by a MATLAB coded program. To demonstrate the accuracy of the program, the determined factor of safety and displacement of the slope are verified with finite element software. As results the mean and the standard deviation of the factor of safety and displacement of the slope are obtained. The results indicate that the slope stability with MCC model has lower coefficient of reliability with respect to the MC model.
